Our Easter Experience

About half of the people we encountered today (in the neighborhood, at the Norton Museum of Art, at Tropical Smokehouse) wished us a “Happy Easter”. It wasn’t so happy for the turkey whose breast I roasted in the LG steam oven (not very steamy, actually), but the kids enjoyed their Thanksgiving-inspired Easter dinner.

A Louise Nevelson is one of the highlights of the sculpture garden for me.

Back in the neighborhood (let’s hope that our kids don’t demand this level of signage!):

Easter should be more important than Christmas, I think, even for non-Christians, and yet a lot more effort is made to communicate the Christmas story.

  1. “Easter should be more important than Christmas, I think . . .”

I would be fascinated to hear your thinking.

  2. At my Big Company, Easter was not even mentioned (I kid you not), so perhaps it is not considered as important as Christmas (Christmas gets mentioned). We did receive reminders about Eid al-Fitr and Diwali. So all 3 major religions are recognized accordingly. But of course, we’re consistently reminded, month-after-month, about the Rainbow religion.

  3. in my medium sized company i got Happy Easter message. I also get Christmas wishes no other religion messages.

  4. The public schools in my FL county would have had Good Friday off, but had class to make up for a Hurricane Milton school cancellation back in October.

  5. And then the Pope, after rising again, died on the third day, so reversing the original Easter story.
